I built a pond 13 years ago, I read all the books, took lots of professional advice and briefly for a week in 2012 the water was clear, I still remember it fondly. A little knowledge is dangerous when it comes to ponds - having all the gear and no idea just leads to constant disappointment and compromise.
Oli carried out an inspection and advised my perception of more ultra violet clarification was wrong in my case. In addition, the three large filter chambers I had were working at 30% efficiency.
Oli drained the pond, decommissioned one UV, and improved the way the chambers would work in the coming years. He secured pond plants in a manner far more robust than previous solutions and as an added courtesy spent some time improving the performance of my electrics as they had become a little jumbled.
The water is crystal clear, a fountain that used to block every second day, is running without loss of flow. Oli was very generous in answering my questions so that moving forward I will keep my pond better although the reality is that he has made the job easier for me.
His pricing is extremely reasonable with no excessive hourly rate, materials are charged at cost. Oli believes nothing further than his annual inspection will be needed moving forward.
Every time I visit the pond rather than dreading the next challenge, I just enjoy the view.

Pond maintenance is very important if you want a clean, clear, well maintained garden feature. Oliver Handy is a pond expert and if you are unable (like me) to stay on top of pond maintenance Oliver is your man. Since he has taken over my pond is looking clear and clean all the time. He is local, most helpful and reasonable in his cost.

Like most people with ponds, it came with the house and was black with little sign of life. After trying various home remedies from garden centres, we were about to give up and fill it in, but by chance we found Oli who came and said “I can sort that!”. Well he has done a sterling job on our pond. We discovered lots of fish (and a few toads) and the water is now crystal clear. Oli is very friendly and knowledgeable, and we are so delighted, we have agreed an annual maintenance visit to keep the pond in good shape. ‘Following a recent house move, I inherited a rather neglected fish pond. The pond held a great deal of promise but due to the green, soup like water, it was difficult to see if any fish had survived. "In 2009 my pond had become quite a state with green-murky water and blanket weed. The pump would often block up with the debris and I was only able to catch glimpses of the fish.
Oliver advised me that a more powerful solid handling pump would be required to supply water to the box filter and a UV-C filter should be added to clear the water. He supplied and fitted a suitable pump and UVC unit and also cleaned out the box filter and removed debris from the pond.
This quickly resulted in clear water and I could enjoy seeing and feeding the fish again.
Since then Oliver has come several times a year to maintain the pond. He has added a fountain, a Water-Lilly and some marginal plants in baskets. Oliver has a key for the gate which means he can come to do the pond when I am at work.
In 2014 the liner needed to be replaced. Oliver suggested that he made the pond deeper, before relining it, as my favourite fish, the Koi, had all grown considerably. Oliver carried out the necessary work and the pond is now bigger and deeper. I am satisfied with the standard of work"
